As promised, FO's

As promised from the previous post - some FO's. Okay, so this sock does not appear to be an FO, but trust me, it is now. See what I mean about this yarn? Very fun, very colorful and bright, but I don't wear much pink or yellow. Kim on the other hand does so yeah! They were a good match.

Okay, so this isn't a knitted item. But go back a few posts and you'll find a picture of me in a fitting for this costume. Here is the final product, minus the finishing closures. Just as a reminder, this costume was worn for four separate performances by four different dancers. Crazy. I've got some pictures of the multitude of closures and I'm considering a contest of sorts. More on that to come.

Kate the Cat with Britches! This little kitty made me laugh so much when I finished her. A friend's daughter was the recipient and from what I can tell she liked it. I used Lion Brand Cotton Ease. It was a fast knit and the Cotton Ease knit up nicely. No splitting, easy on the hands and wrist, and some great colors to choose from.

Tschuss!

One year down, two more to go...

Ta da! Monday morning I took my last final. I have officially completed my first year of grad school. Only two more to go! The best part of it all? That Guy's custom suit is finished. And are you ready for this? I can't wait to make another one! I do want to make a really fantastic stylish coat for him. Something worthly of a band gig. I'm thinking midnight blue velvet and satin lapels. In the meantime though, I am consoled by how good he looks in this one! Notice all the exclamation marks in this post so far? That is a measure of how relieving it is to kiss this first year goodbye.

You can't tell in this picture, but the suit has thin blue/grey pinstripes. I am absolutely in love with the padding that goes into the coat fronts to give shape to the chest and shoulder. It came out so nice. What pleases me most is the fact that this chest of this coat really fits him, as it should. There isn't a ton of ease through the chest, which makes the coat very slimming.

I actually have a few FO's that I will post about when Blogger is cooperating. One is the baby blankie for my niece that I posted about a little while back. Another is the Kate the Cat with Britches pattern from Knitty.com, and I've also managed to finish two pair of socks! One was for a friend, Kim, who managed to work her way in to the sock cue by offering to pay for the yarn. She also has small feet so I figured why the heck not. Add to this the fact that she chose sock yarn from my stash that I knew I would never wear on my own feet and it was a slam dunk.

I am trying to finish up some hours on a database project this week. It is tedious. The only thing making it tolerable is the fact that it is a costume image database and I will be paid for it. It is infringing on my time left to pack for my 9 week contract in Santa Fe, not to mention plan the trip out there with That Guy and decide what activities and things we want to try and see in Santa Fe while he is there with me the first week. I'm very excited, but I am having AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! moments. Ah well, it's to be expected.

Tschuss.
